Injection molder GW Plastics Inc., (Bethel, VT; www.gwplastics.com) was the sole recipient of the 2005 Quality First Award from Takata Seat Belt Inc. (Westover Hills, TX; www.takata.com). Takata reportedly is the world’s largest safety belt manufacturer.According to Steve Russell, Takata’s director of quality, GW Plastics has improved its quality performance over the past year by more than 60% in every category.

“They have achieved this improvement by being a leader in innovation while implementing new technology to meet our quality objectives,” Russell says. “GW Plastics has excelled in the philosophy of Sangen Shugi (actual spot, actual parts, and actual situation) by maintaining a supportive presence in our manufacturing sites. They also show a commitment to our customer goals and to providing cost-reduction opportunities, while improving and guaranteeing the quality of their processes.”

Brenan Riehl, president of GW Plastics, says his company is “committed to helping save lives through excellent quality in automotive safety-critical applications.”
