The need for web guide adjustment during product changeovers can reportedly be eliminated by using the automatic WideArray edge detector. The machine features a detection range of up to 47 cm, and when positioned on opposite sides of the film in a center guiding mode, its detection range is doubled. It allows operators to change web widths on the fly without the need to use mechanical edge-seeking devices. Since it requires no manual recalibration, operators can electronically adjust the guide point anywhere within the detection range through the use of an easy-to-mount remote station. It automatically compensates for web flutter, pass-line variances, temperature changes, and humidity. It is unaffected by dust or dirt, says the producer.
