Faster, better sealing for resealable bagsFaster, better sealing for resealable bags

A new multilayer coextrusion film utilizes DuPont's Surlyn material as a sealant layer for faster, more reliable sealing. Called Multipeel Flow Wrap, Südpack's film structure widens the tolerance range over which reliably tight seals can be created, allowing packaging lines to run at higher speeds.

DuPont Surlyn

  • Less heat energy being required thanks to Surlyn's low minimum-seal temperature

  • Reliable sealing over a wide temperature range

  • High hot tack strength to widen the tolerance range in which reliably tight seals can be created

  • Securely sealed packaging for end consumers

Südpack says its Multipeel Flow Wrap also has good controlled burst-peel behavior since the Surlyn imparts low initial opening force and clean tear propagation. Typical applications can include small-piece products such as sweets, nuts, snacks, and cheese-cubes, which should not dry up after opening.

DuPont offers numerous grades of Surlyn from its packaging resin range for use as a food contact or seal layer in flexible packaging. Depending on the grade, they're suitable for use in blown-film or extrusion-coating processes. Based in Baden-Württemberg, Südpack has 22 sales offices and sites producing flexible plastic laminates, vacuum bags, and rigid films, with around 950 employees.

DuPont's Surlyn is used as a sealant in the Multipeel Flow Wrap multilayer film structure developed by Südpack for resealable tubular bags.
