In 2007 the manufacturer, based in New Delhi, India, launched its duotec tape extrusion & autoroto tape winding lines. The duotec lines in service reach outputs of 600 m/min, reports Lohia Starlinger, while the automatic bobbin changeover on the autoroto tape winding equipment has helped reduce waste, time, and labor costs. Process stability, for instance with less breakage in the tape, and the ability of processors to increase the percentage of calcium carbonate filler they use, are other advantages the manufacturer cites.

In answer to questions from MPW, Lohia Starlinger officials say that the company has installed many duotec lines in India and an installation in Turkey is in progress, with a few other machines shipped recently so that, by late 2009, the company expects to have even more reference customers. While customers were unwilling to reveal their names, the manufacturer did say that most processing so far has been with polypropylene. —[email protected]
