  • why the material moves forward through the screw(s),

  • where the heat to melt comes from,

  • the need for speed reduction,

  • the importance of the rear barrel section,

  • why material cost is critical and power cost much less so,

  • the "vital signs" (measurements),

  • the components of output rate, and,
