EXTRUSIONThe Kirion T take-off helps processors of blown film ensure their end product is wrinkle-free, scratchless, and smooth. Since many multilayer barrier films are often stiff—resulting from use of a number of different polymers that can be sensitive following initial cooling such as polypropylene, nylon copolymers, EVOH, or cyclic olefin copolymer—the take-off needs to be robust, yet gentle on the film. These units use specialty brush rollers mounted on the collapsing frame and side guide rollers. The diagonal brush rollers, which are fitted prior to the nip rolls, ensure good flatness and homogenous cooling of the film over the entire lay-flat width. They also are designed to compensate for any speed differences of the film as it travels up the rotating collapsing frame. Combined with the patented Zerotouch air turning bar, the entire unit can provide scratch-free film for delivery to the Kirion W winder.Kiefel Extrusion, Worms, Germany; +49 6241-902-0; www.kiefel-extrusion.com
