High-efficiency rail car unloader
July 1, 2005
A high-performance self-contained rail car unloading system is designed for operations that require constant high-volume unloading over considerable distances. A fully protected electrical TEFC motor drives two blower units; one for vacuum and one for pressure. To reduce noise levels, the blower units are sized for low-speed operation. In addition, high efficiency silencers are installed at intake and discharge.Continuous filter cleaning of the receiver is automatic during unloading, and for protection of each blower an additional filter is included. A high-level switch prevents overfilling. Vacuum and pressure gauges monitor conditions. A rotary valve is mounted at the cone bottom of the filter receiver to meter material into the pressure conveying system. The system is controlled by programmable circuits mounted in a NEMA 12 enclosure.
