Leader Pins Have Short Press Fit Lengths For Use In Guided Ejection Applications

pn3-100.jpgD-M-E has introduced a line of leader pins with short press fit lengths for use in guided ejection applications. The shortened press fit is said to prevent interference between the leader pin and the guided ejection bushing.

Leader pins are available in 27 sizes with diameters from 3/4 to 1-1/2 in. and lengths from 3-3/4 to 6-1/4 in. Designed for installation in the support plate or in the ejector housing, each pin is made of AISI 8620 steel and case hardened and precision ground to close tolerances. Bronze-plated guided ejection bushings or self-lubricated guided ejection bushings are available for use with the new guided ejection leader pins.

This guided ejection system is an inexpensive method to protect against wear and costly damage to a mold in production. The system holds the ejector assembly in alignment and supports the weight of the ejector assembly throughout the machine cycle. This greatly reduces wear on ejection components and prevents possible cocking of  the ejector plates.
