Mid-Size Beside-The-Press Granulators Fill Size Gap
Cumberland Engineering has introduced the 1000 Series of beside-the-press granulators, which are designed to fill the gap between its smaller 700 Series (Dec '99 PA, p 16) and its larger 1200 Series.
Two 1000 Series models are available: one with a 10- x 12-in. hopper opening and one with a 10- x 18-in. hopper opening. Units have three-blade, open-scooped rotors that feed materials at rates up to 450 lb/hr or 550 lb/hr, respectively.
Motor capacities range between 5 and 15 hp and rotating end disks are said to reduce chamber wear, dust and heat. A soundproofed and pivoting infeed hopper is designed to easily feed multiple applications with minimal flyback. This angled infeed is claimed to result in smoother ingestion of bulky parts and shapes by the cutting area. The cutting chamber is tilted, which is said to add to the versatility of the Series.
Other features include a reversible screen and drop-down removable cradle that allows for fast screen removal. The knives are manufactured from heat-treated steel for long life and durability. The cutting chamber is machined and bolted for easy servicing.
Prices range between $7500 and $8000.
