Tetsuya Okamura will become senior VP of Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) Ltd. Japan, effective April 1. This role comes in addition to his existing position as CEO of injection molding machinery manufacturer Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH with headquarters in Schwaig, Germany, Okamura will now have full responsibility for the Plastics Machinery Business of Japanese parent company Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI).
In his new position, Okamura. will be responsible for integrating, developing and expanding the international injection molding business within the SHI Group. Okamura assumed the role CEO of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery in 2008. At the end of 2011, SHI unified its injection molding machine brands "Sumitomo (SHI) Demag" and "Sumitomo" under the common name of "Sumitomo (SHI) Demag". Production sites in Germany, Japan and China, as well as a global sales and service network, form the basis for the common activities. Kazuo Hiraoka will take over as head of the Plastics Machinery Division, responsible for the production of SHI plastics machinery in Japan, effective April 1. The current head of the Plastics Machinery division, Yuji Takaishi, will become new Head of Corporate Planning and Development Group for the parent company Sumitomo Heavy Industries, effective April 1.
As part of the expansion of its Sun Valley, CA facility, Plastics Color Corp. (PCC), has hired Frank Muñoz as a quality control and liquid color technician. Muñoz has held various production, QC and color-matching positions with several Southern California polymer companies. Global Technology Manager Fred Jhaveri noted that Muñoz has 20 years of experience in the colorants industry in manufacturing, quality control and color matching roles. PCC recently constructed a liquid color and additive production line at its Sun Valley plant to fulfill demand for its new LiquiSol line.
S&E Specialty Polymers LLC (Lunenburg, MA) a specialty plastics compounder, has announced that Duane Shooltz has been promoted to President of the company, and Yan Chen has joined the company as Product Development Manager.
Duane Shooltz was promoted to President of S&E at the end of 2011. Company COO since 2008, Shooltz has led the firm's growth and development strategy, reporting to Steven Graham, S&E's CEO. Yan Chen will work for S&E in the newly created position of product development manager, reporting to Ilia Charlat, S&E's VP of Research and Development.
In addition the company announced it has expanded its sales reach internationally by recently signing distribution agreements with Millan & Associates, LLC for Latin and South America, and with Mihama Corp. for Japan, China, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.
Emerald Polymer Additives, a division of Emerald Performance Materials, has named William Broadhurst as general manager of its polymer additives and nitrile latex product lines. In this role, Broadhurst will lead the two businesses and will be responsible for sales, marketing and product line management. He will work closely with operations and research and development to help the business achieve its growth and profitability goals.
