In addition to supplying the domestic market, the expansion will also increase material output to Purgex's distributors in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. The additional capacity will also give the company more flexibility as it works to develop new products planned for introduction in 2011.
Neutrex touted its Texas location, noting that Houston commands approximately 40% of chemical-production capacity in the U.S. and is the tenth largest international port. Introduced in 1992, Purgex is used to clean injection molding and extrusion equipment during color and material changeovers, and as part of routine or preventive maintenance.
In 2008, The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce awarded Neutrex with its 'E' Award for its growing export business. Export sales increased from $116,000 in 2004 to $388,000 in 2007, while the percentage of export sales out of total sales more than doubled from 5.5% to 12.6%. The company has representation in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Mexico, Portugal, and Turkey.
