New director of international trade joins SPI

SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association (Washington, DC) has named Michael Taylor to the post of senior director of international trade. In that role he will advance SPI's international trade positions before government officials and other policy makers as part of SPI's advocacy team.

Taylor has solid experience in U.S. trade law and regulations and global compliance issues. He comes to SPI from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Global Intellectual Property Center, where as director of European and multilateral programs he developed and executed the Center's goals for championing intellectual property rights vital to creating jobs and advancing global economic growth.

Taylor's new position previously was held by Neil Pratt, who is now assistant general counsel at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

Taylor, who will report to Jon Kurrle, SPI's senior VP for government and industry affairs, has been an advocate before Congress and U.S. federal agencies, as well as the European Union. He also has taught political science courses as an adjunct faculty member at Shepherd University, Trinity University and Catholic University. He holds a B.A. in international affairs from George Washington University and an M.A. in world politics from Catholic University.
