Next! Next Generation orders another 3-layer line from W&H

Next Generation Films (Lexington, OH) has ordered another 3-layer blown-film line from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. with an addition system being specified out. The latest system will be a three-layer Varex with a 134-inch working width, grooved feed extruders (105.30/135.30/105.30D), Optifil P3 gauge-control system, Opticool high-output air ring and a 35.43-inch Maxicone C die.

Next is renovating a new 175,000-sq-ft building, which when completed, will have 12 bays, standing both eight and ten stories tall. These bays will house existing and new blown-film equipment.

By the end of 2014, Next owner Dave Frecka expects to have 12 extrusion lines in operation in the new facility. Current company turnover is estimated at $245 million and Frecka projects sales will exceed $350 million by mid-2015. That's up more than 300% from five years ago, when Next's sales were $100 million.

Founded in 1994, Next supplies specialty films to a variety of markets, including the food packaging, automobile, courier, manufactured housing and protective packaging segments.

On its website the company says it has set up a high-output blown-film extrusion configuration capable of processing up to 2,000 lb/hr or resin. "The line is among the highest output blown-film lines in North America and attests to Next's dedication to creating solutions for the packaging market," the company states on the site. Next reports having 26 blown-film lines at its facilities, with none being more than 10 years old.
