Optical Sensors Have 'Full Metal Jackets'

0401pn-2.jpgBalluff's M12 optical sensors, which are part of the company's new Optocom line, have metal jackets and are fully potted and IP76-rated to ensure reliable part detection feedback on machine tools, robots and assembly equipment.

These sensors have M12 x 1 housings and are available in red-light versions with fixed 100 and 200 mm sensing distances. Pot-adjustable, infrared 400 mm versions are also available. All have an output LED to speed setup.

Units are available in PVC cable or connector models, with PNP or NPN output configurations. They are powered by 10 to 30 v dc and are protected against reverse polarity and short circuits. List price is $60.

The new Optocom line also includes S18 models, with diffuse, retroreflective and thru-beam versions, offering sensing ranges from 100 mm to 12 meters. Prices for these units start at $35.
