Perlos Corp., Vantaa, Finland, a major supplier of injection molded components and assemblies for mobile phones, will establish a 10,700-m2 production plant in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, close to the Xingwang industrial park where oem Nokia has a facility. Production is scheduled to ramp up in the second quarter. First-year investment will be around $5 million.

The plant will almost double Perlos’ current production space in China. Perlos president and CEO Timo Leinilä says the company’s present capacity in China will soon be insufficient for expected demand. “With this new factory, Perlos can improve its service to Nokia in China, and to other potential mobile-phone customers primarily in the Beijing area,” he says.

The investment, along with the recent acquisition of Ace Mold, means Perlos will be present in each of China’s major telecommunications electronics manufacturing centers: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.
