Portable chillers with enhanced temperature controls

PF_Berg_Portables.jpgBerg’s large- and mid-range portable chilling systems have been designed in three styles: air cooled, water cooled, and remote cooled. Available in 5- to 40-ton capacities, these compact units come with heavy duty casters for easy portability. No-tool access to major components, including the electrical panel, eases maintenance.

All units come with the SC5 system control. The control has a two-line full character display with touch button controls for easy setup. The alarm package has high-temperature level alarms with audio and optional visual indicators. Each unit has a touch-screen control panel designed for intuitive operation. A hand-held unit is optional.

Chiller design includes a low-watt density Incoloy heater, in ratings ranging from 9 to 24 kw, that reportedly resists corrosion better than copper or stainless steel. Pumps range from 3¼4 to 71¼2 hp, with bronze or stainless steel impellers to ensure turbulent flow. An adjustable water supply pressure switch prevents operation when water pressure is low, and a bypass line protects the heater and pump if process flow is shut off.
