Ulrich Reifenhäuser, member of the Reifenhäuser management board noted that the results were especially gratifying given the recent market collapse in 2008/2009. "We wanted to emerge from the crisis stronger than before and there is no doubt that we have accomplished this goal," Ulrich Reifenhäuser said. In 2009, Reifenhäuser acquired the blown-film extrusion business of Kiefel.
India heats up
Boosting the record results were numerous contracts in emerging countries, including India, where Reifenhäuser says the consumer class, fueled by dual-income households, will support double-digit growth rates going forward for the flexible packaging market.
Reifenhäuser India Marketing Ltd. now has more than 70 employees at its headquarters in Mumbai, with seven additional locations in India for sales and service. Plant business has been a driving force for its growth, particularly for barrier lines and high-performance machinery withing blown film production.
Reifenhäuser won the business of Mother Dairy, the producer of AMUL dairy products, as well as the two Indian market leaders in the production of barrier films. Cast films are also increasingly in demand in India with a notable trend to lines for the production of polypropylene film, laminated or metallized or for food packaging. Reifenhäuser will participate in India's largest plastics show, Plastindia (Feb. 1-6, 2012; Delhi).
