New coating units were developed based on Sprimag's three-axis automatic coating machine. A robot now does the spraying, mounted on the upper part of the side panel, giving it freedom of movement and keeping the ceiling free from obstructions that could disturb air flow in the cabin.

The pallets are placed for spraying on a servo-controlled turntable. In the previous machine, a pallet was loaded, sprayed, and then unloaded. In this machine, a new pallet is carried into the cabin and exchanged with a freshly sprayed one. As soon as the sprayed pallet is sufficiently withdrawn, the robot starts spraying the new pallet, eliminating robot positioning delays and reducing transfer time. The cabin fits easily into existing production lines. Sprimag Spritzmaschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG, Kirchheim/Teck, Germany; www.sprimag.de
