The SRS Bi-Cutter CRD (Clean Room Design) screenless granulator can be placed in a low-particulate molding area at press side. The granulator provides a completely controlled processing environment that allows a full manufacturing cell operation within a low particulate molding area?an area with airborn particles comparable to a Class 100,000 cleanroom, but without the microbiological or hyac testing.

The slow speed of the granulator contributes to a dust-free environment. The hopper design prevents plastic particles from entering the environment, and particles from the cutting chamber are retained within a magnetically sealed enclosure. To ensure that the processing system meets low particulate molding area requirements, a special regrind collection bin is used. The system is currently used for producing medical components but it can be used for any injection molding application. The granulator is said to provide a number of benefits including lower material costs; clean, uniform regrind; reduced material handling costs; and improved regrind usage versus virgin material.
