Previously linear robots have had certain limitations compared with 6-axis robots according to vendor Wemo Automation AB (Bor Sweden) but by introducing a servo driven rotation axis to the range of linear robots, this gap has been closed.

This innovation provides an efficient and cost-effective solution in many advanced operations with all the advantages of linear robots, such as free floor space beside the robot and the relative ease of programming compared with 6-axis robots, together with extended arm lengths.

In other innovations at Wemo, an ECO function is now incorporated on all the supplier's robots that automatically adjusts movements outside the mold area to the actual cycle time of the injection machine. This results in smoother movements with less wear as well as reduced energy costs.

In another energy-enhancing advancement, Wemo Optimized Motion Software (WOMS) featured standard on all Wemo robots  improves speed control and accuracy while reducing cycles times by at least 20% compared to existing cycles.

Wemo robots can also now be integrated into the operator control panels of Ferromatik Milacron machines equipped with Mosaic controllers as well as on Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machines with NC5 controllers. While operation of both machine and robot through the molding machine control panel is possible, the robot can also be simultaneously programmed for the next production run using the hand held control panel of the robot, meaning considerable time savings when changing molds. Integration will be demonstrated at the Wemo booth (Stand 10/D60) as well as at the Ferromatik Milacron stand (15/C06).-[email protected]
