facility that Spartech plans to have operational by mid-summer 2010. The company says the new facility will be four times the size of its existing research facilities and staffed by approximately 40 material scientists, processing engineers, and commercial development specialists. Spartech's existing product development center is located in Warsaw, IN, where it also has sheet and engineered product manufacturing facilities.

In addition to allowing customers to work with Spartech's researchers on advanced thermoplastics and polymers, new product applications, and processing capabilities, the company says another goal is to reduce the cost of product development cycles and shorten time-to-market for new applications.

In addition to the U.S., Spartech's three business segments operate facilities in Mexico, Canada, and France, processing approximately 1 billion lb of plastic, specialty plastic alloys, and color and specialty compounds annually.—[email protected]
