Global industrial robot supplier Stäubli Robotics (Duncan, SC) has formed a new strategic partnership with automation specialist Rixan Associates Inc. (Dayton, OH), in which the latter concentrates on co-sales and marketing in the central states of the U.S. The customer is said to benefit from better service and support combined with faster, more powerful robots.
Stäubli’s product range includes small 4-axis robots on one end, and 6-axis units that can handle 250-kg payloads on the other—with all of them sharing a common, easy-to-learn control platform. Systems designer and integrator Rixan, according to its president Stephen Harris, “...needed robots with higher payloads, faster cycle times, and robots that had more application-specific features. Stäubli robots fulfill those needs and will provide our customers with leading-edge technology, high reliability, and a worldwide support network second to none.”
The new partnership offers turnkey robotic automation, engineering service, components, software, and training. Besides their increasing penetration of the plastics processing sector, multi-axis articulated robots are finding increasing applications in healthcare, food, aeronautics, and electronics, among other sectors. Packaging, assembly, machine servicing, palletizing, trimming, and painting are among their capabilities, and they are often advantaged in a workcell where multiple tasks are required. —[email protected]
