Standardized sensors

NP_Baluff_ac.jpgBy packaging 15 different types of photoelectric sensors into the same 50-by-50-mm package, Balluff allows molders to standardize their sensor technology, making installation and maintenance easier while reducing downtime. Models in the S60 Series are all direct replacements for older-model sensors that came in a variety of shapes and sizes. All S60s use an M12 connector that can be rotated in a 90° arc, allowing for installation in straight or right angle positions relative to the optic axis. In cable-out versions, the wire is positioned at a 45° angle so it can be extended in virtually any direction. The S60 line has three families of sensing modes (standard potentiometer, advanced pushbutton, and laser) that are reported to be easy for operators to set up and maintain. The potentiometers include polarized-reflective, through-beam, and diffuse proximity modes, and for the pushbutton models, a patented Easytouch system simplifies setting of the object-detection threshold. Pushbutton models also have background/foreground suppression, distance, luminescence, and contrast capabilities. The laser models provide high spot visibility and concentration for easier sensor alignment.
