The Pellbow family of specially designed elbow joints helps processors handle material handling of abrasive materials and reduces streamers. The units are designed to minimize damage when solid particles are transported in a high-velocity pneumatic conveying system, which generally means the higher the velocity, the more dust and steamers are formed in the elbows. The Pellbow design creates a streamlined pocket shape by enlarging the bend at the incoming point to produce a soft layer of pellets just before they impact the angular target zone. This deflects incoming pellets toward the outlet, minimizes product degradation, and elbow wear. Thanks to the Bernoulli pocket, the unit is said to be fully self-cleaning when the product flow is stopped. Sizes range from 1.5 inch (38 mm) to 12 inch (300 mm) diameter.
