npe10.jpgVacuum chambers--A number of design enhancements have been added to Universal Dynamics' stainless steel vacuum chambers. They are now dubbed the LS2 Series. The redesigned modular units are available in sizes from 0.75 to 6 cu ft and have interchangeable material and vacuum line sizes. Using a standard bolt pattern fitting, the inlet and outlet tubes (in line sizes from 1.5 to 3 in.) will all fit the same pattern.

In addition, larger, non-spring-loaded adjustable lid clamps have been added. UnaDyn's VP of Sales and Marketing, John Fleischer, says these clamps, and other changes, are designed to allow easy, one-handed operation. Units also now incorporate a removable sight glass on the mounting flange so users can watch the flapper operate.

The 0.75 and 1.5 cu ft chambers have a stainless steel stand welded to the mounting flange so it can be removed from its mounting location safely and without risk of damage to the dump throat.

The chamber can be rotated through 360 deg by loosening a band clamp above the mounting flange. The dump throat, with a 6-in. opening in the 3 and 6 cu ft chambers, can be rotated around the mounting adapter for fitting to almost any hopper configuration.

The switch in the flapper assembly has been made reversible to enhance changeability from 'normally open' to 'normally closed' so it can accommodate different control units.

A new optional hinge assembly will allow the chamber lid to rotate away from the rest of the chamber without personnel having to completely remove the lid for maintenance.

Fleischer says these enhancements will not add to the cost of the chambers, and, in addition, because of the modularity, they can be shipped in three days from order.
