However, the transfer of ownership to the next generation has been under way for the last year.

The couple's oldest son, Dan Mishek (35), is stepping into the role of managing director. Their daughter, Jennifer Sutherland (33), will continue as director of operations, and second son Allen Mishek (29) will continue to head up VistaTek's marketing work.

Dan Mishek said, "My family is passionate about manufacturing and wants to continue to show the importance of it in Minnesota and across the U.S." VistaTek obviously recognizes the value of experience, too. Jim and Lorinda will continue to advise and support company operations as members of its board of directors. Dan Mishek added, "We are excited about the opportunity to take a family business and grow it from one generation to another."

Following its founding, VistaTek grew to become one of the largest prototyping service bureaus in the Midwest, and further invested to provide value-added service to over 1600 customers. It has streamlined its moldmaking and molding operations, which concentrate on complex parts with undercuts, overmolding, and insert molding, lowering in-house completion time to two to three weeks. In February 2010 the molding division was certified according to ISO 9001:2008.
