Designed for greater control of accelerated weathering testing, two new Ci5000 Xenon-arc Weather-Ometers with enhanced digital controls were introduced by Atlas Material Testing Solutions (Chicago, IL). The standard or low-voltage options offer a full-color TFT touch-screen display with intuitive icons and an embedded control system replacing the previous PLC control with increased memory capacity. It can control additional features that used to be managed by external controls, such as water resistance and lamp water temperature.

The analog control circuits from the previous models have been replaced with a more reliable and accurate digital network, which is said to allow operators to more efficiently analyze instrument performance, monitor test parameters, and perform calibration procedures. The system is built with scalability for future upgrades, and new software versions can be uploaded through the interface.
