World’s largest PVC profile extruder gets bigger with 24-line orderWorld’s largest PVC profile extruder gets bigger with 24-line order

For most, 24 extrusion lines would constitute suitable capacity for an entire plant, and a large one at that. For China's Wuhu Conch Profiles and Science Ltd., which bills itself as the largest window profile manufacturer in the world, the 24 new lines it purchased from battenfeld-cincinnati merely represent an expansion, pushing its PVC processing capacity to more than 700,000 tons per year from over 400 extruders.

These new lines are the first purchased from battenfeld-cincinnati by Conch, according to Mark Feng, general manager battenfeld-cincinnati (Foshan) Extrusion Systems Ltd. and Walter Haeder, managing director, battenfeld-cincinnati Austria GmbH. The machines, which were delivered in July and up and running by August, were part of an order was worth "several million Euros", Feng told PlasticsToday.

"battenfeld-cincinnati has built up a strong presence in China as a quality and technology leader," Feng said. "We are proud that this was rewarded by Conch as the leading profile producer."1_Conch_with-bc-extruders.jpg

The machines were built in the standard battenfeld-cincinnati design, according to Feng, with the screws made in Austria and tailored to the raw material formulation used by Conch. The machines' screw diameters range in size from 63 to 93 mm, with outputs from 70 to 380 kg/hr.

Feng and Haeder said the combination of battenfeld-cincinnati's technology and Chinese production facility in Shunde helped cinch the deal. battenfeld-cincinnati Extrusion Systems Ltd. in Foshan, China, assembles extruders in country using components manufactured in Austria and Germany. The company's service team provides after-sales support after machines have been installed, and the local presence enables faster spare part service, according to battenfeld-cincinnati.

Feng told PlasticsToday that the Shunde operation has close to 200 employees. Sales volume in 2011 was approximately 30 million Euro, which represents an increase over the previous year of more than 50%. "With our subsidiary, we are the market leader in the high-end plastic extrusion machinery segment in China," Feng said.
