Austrian processor Pollmann (Karlstein) will start production of Pollmann Mechatronics Co. Ltd. at Kunshan in October. The new 5000 m² facility will be ready by the middle of the year. The investment by 2010 will be around €7.5 million, with about 160 employees expected in Kunshan by that time.

Pollmann develops and manufactures (electro-)mechanical subassemblies for the automobile, consumer electronics, and household appliance industries. Its skills include metal stamping, extrusion, foam processing, and injection molding, among other processes. Current and potential customers already have production sites in Asia, says Pollmann. The future Pollmann site in China will contribute to growth in Austria and the U.S., according to managing director Robert Pollmann.—[email protected]
