Precipitation-Hardened Stainless Steel Can BeUsed For Multi-ColoredLens Applications

Thyssen Marathon Canada's Thyroplast PHX Supra is a PH (precipitation hardened) stainless steel that is said to provide 'superior' corrosion and wear resistance. It is also said to have a high tensile strength and good toughness. It is also remelted, which reportedly results in excellentpolishability.

This steel is said to be particularly suited to multi-color lens molding applications and mold or dies for highly corrosive materials, like CPVC and glass-filled resins.

It is supplied in the solution-annealed and precipitation-hardened condition at 40RC. Compared to the company's Thyroplas 2316, this tool steel is said to offer easier repair welding.
