Processing system for injection molding

Article-Processing system for injection molding

The Quantum Processing System has reportedly demonstrated impressive performance results across a wide variety of resins. The system is sold as a complete assembly including screw, barrel, and nonreturn valve. Each component of the system is designed and manufactured at one of Spirex?s two U.S.-based facilities and is supported by its global network of sales and service offices.

In recent comparison testing, the Quantum Processing System compared favorably to four available systems on an injection molding unit with all tests done at 300 screw rpm, 11.7 inch3 shot volume. A wide range of resins were tested, including: PP, PE, ABS, PET, and nylon. The system was said to have outperformed all other systems in practically every category and type of resin.

However, the most impressive results appeared with PET: screw recovery time was less than 5 seconds, less than 60% of maximum torque was required, and plasticating rate was more than 44 g/sec. The specific barrel and screw design combination reportedly yields high output and superior mixing for difficult processing challenges.
