PU systems house targets China's mushrooming auto industry

A systems house for polyurethane (PU) established by Japan's Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo) in Southern China has commenced operations. The company says the new facility will boost its market share for automotive materials (mainly seat cushions) in the region, which has attracted significant investment in automobile manufacturing.

Besides production at its 11,000 tonnes/year plant, Foshan Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes Co., Ltd. (FMPU) will also support development of new materials based on core technologies from Japan to better cater to local market needs. The facility will mainly serve the needs of Japanese automakers in the region. Toyota and Honda are among the OEMs with production facilities in Southern China.-[email protected]
