Raven Industries' Engineered Films Division announces new wide-width fabrication capacity

Raven Industries' Engineered Films Division (EFD), an innovative manufacturer of speciality plastic film and sheeting, announced the addition of wide-width fabrication capacities at its Madison, SD, facility. These new capabilities generate additional capacity-specifically, wide-width lay-flat materials--immediately decreasing the fabricated-product lead times of geomembrane liners, custom grain covers and other converted products.

Raven EFD's new 150-inch-wide lay-flat winding capability meets industry demands for prefabricated geomembranes in accordion and c-folded panels and provides a number of benefits. Those include large, single roll fabrication in up to 8,000-pound rolls. For example, a 40-mil, 50 x 800 ft. geomembrane containing one factory seam is folded and rolled on a 12.5-ft-long core (multiple 25-foot-wide c-folded increments are available).

Raven also supplies reinforced geomembranes up to 45-mil (24 x 1,650 ft long) containing one factory seam, folded and rolled on a 12-ft-long core (multiple 12-ft wide increments available).

"We are excited to open this new phase of capacity with the major advantages that 150-inch-wide width conversion can provide for our customers," stated Anthony Schmidt, EFD Vice President and General Manager.

Large custom panels save considerable time and money on site by significantly decreasing the number of install days. In many cases, customers can deploy a fabricated panel as a one-piece containment solution, Schmidt explained. "Online, we provide product case studies of actual applications, including one that depicts a rapid deployment for hydrocarbon containment," he added.
