Instead of Coca Cola’s overrun and discontinued labels going into landfill, they will be seen on the arms and shoulders of fashionable women, turned into a series of limited-edition handmade handbags.
The company, Ecoist, which started in 2007, has already kept over a million of the Coca-Cola labels out of landfills, however these handbags are a new product line. The Ecoist/Coca-Cola partnership also has planted over 5000 trees with its “Buy a Bag, Plant a Tree” program, a promise to plant a tree for every bag sold.â¨â¨
The new collection uses Diet Coke, Coke Zero, and Diet Cherry Coke labels to make branded Coca-Cola prints as well as abstract patterns in an assortment of handbag shapes. The handbags are found at Ecoist’s retailers, at Ecoist.com, and as they should be, in the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA. —[email protected]
