Fresh off a successful run at NPE2015, automation systems supplier Yushin (Cranston, RI) has begun a $2 million expansion that will increase manufacturing and warehousing space in its facility by 77%. Construction should be completed by mid to late spring 2015, says the company. Current plans anticipate a doubling of robot assembly bays; the next phase, which will be completed in the next two to three years, will provide a tripling of those bays.
Surging demand for automation, with processors seeking productivity gains, as reported by Clare Goldsberry from NPE2015, has resulted in Yushin needing to increase floor space and manpower. Regarding the latter, Yushin is spearheading an initiative with local educational institutions to develop training programs to better equip the new workforce with relevant skills. With Yushin's assistance, local schools have altered their curriculum to offer relevant CNC machining and technical education courses, says the company. In addition to hiring a number of those graduates, Yushin also provides internships to students enrolled in those programs.
In an effort to be ready before the expansion is complete, Yushin is actively searching for qualified candidates in mechanical engineering, robot assembly, customer support, field service technicians, sales administration and marketing administration.
