Roundness measuring system for cylindrical parts

Article-Roundness measuring system for cylindrical parts

Speed and accuracy are reportedly combined in a new roundness measuring system. The unit automates measurement, assessment, and data printouts for different cylindrical parts while reportedly increasing throughput and accuracy. It has vertical-column straightness of .05 µm/100 mm, parallelism with rotating axis of .2 µm/350 mm, and measuring arm straightness of .5 µm/200m. A digital adjustment air-bearing table mechanism and high-accuracy linear scales allow automatic workpiece centering and leveling in less than a minute. The turntable?s rotor accuracy, stator, and air bearing reportedly make it highly accurate. In addition, the manufacturer says adjusting the turntable or measurements causes minimal positioning errors because of the turntable?s linear scales. Digital compensation accounts for mechanical errors and provides the most precise measurements.
