Global food service packaging manufacturer Sabert Corp. (Sayreville, NJ) announced that it will acquire Kalman Packaging Inc. (Graham, NC), a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic hinged food containers for the bakery/supermarket sector.
As the food industry continues to expand and differentiate, Sabert said it aims to keep a watch on growing trends, providing customers with a broad offering of food packaging products and solutions. One segment that continues to grow across multiple channels is bakery, which Sabert has identified as an area of growth to cultivate a more comprehensive packaging offering.
"I'm very excited about this deal, and proud to become part of the Sabert family. I believe that this relationship will help to accelerate new product development in this segment," said Dan Kalmanides, owner and President of Kalman Packaging. "With the acquisition of Kalman, Sabert will be able to provide new innovation and versatile packages designed specifically for pies, cupcakes, muffins, and other bakery foods."
The transaction provides a meaningful addition to Sabert's portfolio, while creating opportunities to further broaden Sabert's reach across multiple channels and better serve customers, with the quality and great look Sabert products are known for.
John Healey, Sabert's North America President, commented, "We are delighted to announce this acquisition, which is consistent with our company's mission to enhance and advance the way people enjoy food."
Privately-held Sabert operates North American facilities in New Jersey, California and Kentucky, as well as manufacturing facilities in Belgium and Zhongshan, China.
