Samsung Electronics America Inc. utilizes what it calls dual-injection molding to coat a translucent, colored surface on its new line of LED HDTVs launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (Las Vegas Convention Center, Jan. 8-11, 2009). By using LEDs (light-emitting diodes) as the primary light source instead of cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL), Samsung says the TVs offer high contrast ratios, slimness (they’re just over 1-inch-thick), and increased energy savings.—[email protected]
