S&E Specialty Polymers raises $20,000 for a charity

Here's a 'good news' story for you. S&E Specialty Polymers, a producer of specialty plastic compounds, recently sponsored its second annual charity golf tournament on July 21, 2014 at the Sterling National Country Club in Sterling, MA in support of Life is good Playmakers, the nonprofit action arm of The Life is good Company. The annual tournament, called 'Play Fore Playmakers,' was a success and all profits from registrations, donations and sponsorships have been donated directly to the Playmakers organization.

SECheckPresentation2014_0.jpegOn August 25, S&E President and COO Duane Shooltz and Jay Munsey, National Sales Director of S&E, presented Life is good Playmakers with a check for $20,000 at the Life is good headquarters in Boston. S&E has also announced that due to both the continued success of this event and their commitment to support the organization long term, the third 'Play Fore Playmakers' tournament has already been scheduled for July 20, 2015.

The Life is good Playmakers is a nonprofit organization that helps young children who have been hurt by trauma, such as violence, abuse, poverty and illness. They provide comprehensive support to early childhood professionals - such as teachers, social workers and medical specialist - who have dedicated their lives to caring for these at-risk children. To date, the Life is good Playmakers have supported over 4,000 care providers nationwide.

"We could not have been happier with the golf tournament and humbled by the partnership with S&E," says Rich Cremin, Partner at Life is good."We are all extremely grateful to have friends like Duane, Jay, and the good folks at Sterling National on our team.  The money raised fuels the work of the Playmakers who help kids overcome poverty, violence, and illness. We are already looking forward to next year's tournament."

About a 104 golfers (up from 82 in 2013, the tournament's first year) participated on a day that featured golf challenges including longest putt, longest drive, most accurate drive, closest to the pin, and chipping, putting, and hole-in-one contests for large cash prizes totaling over $70,000. There was also a silent auction and a raffle for numerous unique prizes. One of the Par 5 holes featured Kyle Blakely, 6-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship finalist, hitting drives for the foursomes.

"We were pleased with the fantastic turnout and both the continued and growing support in the tournament's second year," Shooltz said. "It was another great event for a worthy cause that S&E is truly proud to have organized & sponsored. We can't wait to see it continue to grow even further next year."

Some of the donations and proceeds from the tournament will benefit the work of Playmakers in Central Massachusetts, with the balance providing support to their ongoing work being done across the country and abroad.
