Seeing-eye forklifts

Article-Seeing-eye forklifts

Two new optional attachments for the Hyster narrow-aisle ZR Reach trucks from Hyster Co., a subsidiary of NACCO Industries Inc. (Cleveland, OH), can increase operator productivity and improve operator safety while reducing product and ramp damage. The first is a fork laser. It emits either a dot or line beam that guides lift operators to the correct fork placement when retrieving product. The laser’s life span reportedly exceeds 10,000 hours.

The second is a fork camera option. It provides what company officials call a “fork’s-eye view” of product at elevated heights, and can reduce workplace accidents caused by inaccurate fork placement. The camera mounts to the fork carriage and sends a digital image to a 7.5-inch color monitor mounted in the operator’s compartment.
