The MED mold standard for cleanroom molding from Braunform (Bahlingen, Germany) will be showcased at Fakuma through the use of modular inserts in a 96-cavity injection mold to produce a pen hub, or needle holder.
During the exhibition, a high-cavity injection mold with a 3.9-sec cycle time will be shown at the Engel booth on a fully electric e-motion 220-t press. The mold was designed and built by Braunform as part of an R&D project to develop new technologies, Braunform told PlasticsToday.
The high-cavity injection mold processes the polypropylene pen hubs in a highly automated manufacturing cell under constant visual monitoring. Using 0.3- and 0.5-mm-diameter cores, the mold is designed according to the latest, state-of-the-art technology.
