Sintered vents relieve trapped gas

Standardized sintered air vents are designed to relieve trapped gas in molds, minimize the number of short shot plastic parts and burned plastic parts, and reduce overall injection molding cycle time. The vents are available off-the-shelf in 49 standard sizes from 4 to 28 mm in outside diameter. They are composed of many straight, parallel, and uniform pores made through a thermal process in which powdered metals are compacted and then heated to form a dense metal structure.

Sintered vents can be installed by the moldmaker during the initial tool building process, or they can be installed after a mold tryout reveals defects. The vents range from $7.50 to $63.
