Six-sigma capability in small-part molding

Article-Six-sigma capability in small-part molding

A new 30-ton injection molding machine, for precision molding small, intricate parts, has been added to the ISFA line. The ISFA30 has platen dimensions of 15 by 15 inches and tiebar spacing of 10.2 by 10.2 inches. Molders have a choice of four injection units ranging in shot capacity from .5 to 2.3 oz. This numerical closed loop control machine has a high-speed (200 nanosecond) microprocessor. Optical linear scales are used to sense the positioning of both the clamp and injection screw, and a direct-pressure, four-tiebar clamping system reduces mold deformation.

The ISFA30, according to the manufacturer, has Six-Sigma capability that meets the maximum industry quality standard of less than 2.3 reject parts per million produced. It operates with a Machine Injectvisor V10 high-resolution, active-matrix, 256-color LCD control system. The V10 is fully programmable with touch-screen accessibility and English or Spanish language capability. Prices were not provided.
