Introduced to the molding community for the first time at the Interplas exposition last fall in Britain, the easymould is the latest small machine developed by U.K.-based manufacturer Boston Matthews Inc.
Based on the company?s previously manufactured 10 to 50 tonne models, the easymould ranges from 25 to 35 tonnes (27.5 to 38.5 tons) and features the Euromap platen layout for tooling interchangeability. The machine also has proportional hydraulics, a microprocessor-based control with color touch-screen interface, and a mold library to simplify setups.
All machines in the easymould range can be linked directly to a PC, allowing operators to download information to or from any Windows-based application. The press also allows profiled injection, offers pulse and/or shake ejection, and provides quick-release coupling. Opening stroke is 200 mm, the space between tiebars is 270 mm, and the maximum daylight between platens is 454 mm.
The machine is currently available in Europe, but won?t appear in North America until NPE in Chicago in June of this year. Officials at the company report that the machine will sell in the U.K. for about £13,000 (approximately $21,000), but U.S. prices may vary.
