Soft LSR launched for implantable applications

Soft silicone elastomers historically have been used for soft tissue simulation, cushioning, and dampening, but were limited to nonreinforced gel systems that are prone to fracture and require a thin elastomer membrane to enhance integrity, according to the company. Applied Silicone's Type OO and Type OOO soft LSRs reportedly combine a soft feel with mechanical strength and minimal surface tackiness.

Soft LSRs have low to medium viscosities suitable for knife-coating films, injection molding soft parts with complex geometries, or solvent-free dip-casting of thin membranes.

The Applied Silicone product can be customized to suit specific customer requirements.
