As important as machine and tool maintenance is, it can easily be overlooked by many processors. For this reason, a new Windows-based program is designed to automate maintenance schedules, remind shops when a tool or machine is due, and compile detailed data on preventive maintenance. InsightPM is reportedly compatible with a company's real-time production system, or it can be established as an independent spreadsheet that uses an ASCII file format.
Using total hours or dates run as a benchmark, maintenance can be scheduled at regular intervals, and once performed, can be recorded in the system. Up to 10 tasks can be monitored for each tool or machine, providing a wide breadth of data points. Maintenance frequency is customizable to each specific object's needs, and the system alerts technicians when the specified interval is up.
The program provides a module that tracks maintenance inventory and creates kits of parts associated with certain machines and tools. The program keeps track of inventory for spare parts used in repairs, and it allocates specific costs to each job, generating work orders and bills of materials. The module can also monitor inventory value.
Non-production equipment, such as compressors, elevators, or forklifts, can also be tracked by InsightPM. RJG Inc., Traverse City, MI; 231-947-3111; cwww.extrusiondies.com
