Styrenics suppliers have been in an especially difficult situation in the past year, limiting or closing capacity as demand for their materials stagnates, with the most recent news coming from Americas Styrenics LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between The Dow Chemical Co. and Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP. The supplier, based in Woodlands, TX, announced it will reduce polystyrene production capacity at its Marietta, OH, facility by approximately 350 million lb, with about 60 employees likely to lose their jobs.—[email protected]
