Tecma Group of Companies acquires Made in Mexico

The Tecma Group of Companies (El Paso, TX) announced that it has established a permanent and sizable presence in one of the US-Mexico border’s most dynamic and fastest growing manufacturing centers: Tijuana, Baja California. The emergence of this dominant US-Mexico border region provider of Mexican Manufacturing Support Services (shelter services) is the result of the acquisition of Made in Mexico Inc., by the Tecma Group of Companies.

As a result of the acquisition of Made in Mexico, Tecma has positioned itself to be the foremost provider of outsourced manufacturing support services for companies that wish to set up and maintain production operations in near shore proximity to the United States, the world’s most developed consumer market. The pairing of Tecma and Made in Mexico has resulted in the formation of a formidable new entity that:

  • Provides outsourced manufacturing support, or shelter services to more than 50 companies that have Mexico operations;

  • Employs a total of over 5,500 workers;

  • Occupies more than 2.5 million square feet of world-class, quality industrial real estate.

K. Alan Russell, co-founder, President and CEO of the Tecma Group of Companies, views the acquisition of Made in Mexico a win for everyone.

“Due to growing demand for Tecma services, we wanted to create a base station with a local presence in Tijuana,” Russell commented. “Without more ‘talent on the ground,’ however, we felt that we were somewhat handicapped. In order to overcome this circumstance, we sought local talent, as well as to purchase a local company. In that search, we discovered Made in Mexico, co-founded 30 years ago by Dale Robinson and two additional partners. We discovered that it was remarkably similar to Tecma with respect to its corporate culture, and its commitment to quality and integrity in all of its business dealings. We believe that our expanded capabilities to provide Mexico shelter services in an additional and key location will provide a solution for manufacturers that are seeking to ‘up their game’ on the competitive global stage.”

Made in Mexico has been offering its manufacturing clients a full range of Maquiladora Management Services since 1985. The company’s goal is to enhance its clients’ competitive advantage by lowering their manufacturing costs in a near shore environment. Made in Mexico’s successful history includes having assisted over 100 companies operate their Mexican Maquiladoras with maximum cost savings and ease, and minimal exposure to risk, said Tecma’s information.

For example, Plastiflex Group, a developer and global manufacturer of flexible hose system solutions for a wide variety of applications from healthcare to pool equipment and more, is now a client of The Tecma Group since Tecma’s acquisition of Made in Mexico.

The Tecma Group of Companies provides shelter services that have enables forms of varying sizes from a wide range of industries to establish and maintain Mexican manufacturing operations at low cost and reduced risk for almost three decades. Under its Mexico Shelter Manufacturing Partnership, companies control and focus on their core, value-added functions, while Tecma tends to their human resource, payroll, accounting, logistics and other non-manufacturing, but essential, tasks.
