Teknor Apex acquires Sarlink from DSM

The purchase has been completed by which Royal DSM N.V. has sold its Sarlink thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), business to Teknor Apex, which is making it part of its Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Division. This acquisition increases Teknor Apex's global fooprint and manufacturing network.

As part of the TPE Division, Sarlink will continue to supply its branded products, ensuring service continuity to its customers. In addition, according to Teknor Apex VP Suresh Swaminathan, the acquisition expands the capability of Teknor Apex to serve as a single source for multiple compounds.

Swaminathan noted that this move brings together two long-term automotive suppliers. The TPE Division will continue to support automotive manufacturers through its office at Rochester Hills, MI, hear Detroit. Swaminathan said, "This broad capability enables us to recommend only the very best TPE formulation for a customer's application and to back it up with experienced technical and engineering support."

Teknor Apex said that the Sarlink product line brings a unique elastomer technology to the company's product line. Sachin S. Sakhalkar, new business development manager for Teknor Apex, said, "Sarlink products exhibit exceptionally rubber-like properties yet provide the processing advantages of thermoplastics over rubber, including higher productivity, greater design freedom, and recyclability. Compared with most other widely used TPEs, Sarlink TPVs  provide greater elasticity, resistance to flexural fatigue, stability at high temperatures, chemical resistance, and weatherability."
