SPE thermoforming competition: And the winners in the Heavy Gauge category are . . .

The Heavy Gauge category of the Parts Competition at the SPE Thermoforming Conference, which was held from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 in Atlanta, GA, showcased medical, automotive and industrial components that demonstrate how this industry is moving forward. All of the parts displayed innovation and creativity in the use of heavy sheet vacuum and pressure forming.

Shown in this first slide is the winner of the Gold Award in the Heavy Gauge, Vacuum-Formed category entered by Plastitel (Chazy, NY). The air pods used in the IsoLibrium bed from Stryker isolate pressure redistribution and enhance the microclimate for patient comfort. Material used is custom-colored 0.080-in. TPU with a matte finish. The part, measuring 58 x 28 x 6 in., has a total of 69 pods.
